đź’Ť The Speech & Vows đź’Ť

Welcome

Dear family and friends, thank you for being here today.

Today is not just any day. We are here to celebrate something very ancient and very simple, yet at the same time profoundly extraordinary: the love between two people who have chosen each other… again and again.

We have gathered to accompany Marco and Nuria in one of the most important moments of their lives. And we do so not only as witnesses, but as part of their story. Because a love story is never built in solitude: it is built with friends, with family, with unexpected encounters… and sometimes at Nanni’s 30th birthday party in London, where neither side really knows what is beginning.

That is how Nuria and Marco met, almost without realizing it.

At first, it was not immediate. There were different rhythms, doubts, paths that moved apart and came back together. But they managed to do something very difficult: they respected timing… and recognized each other when the moment arrived.

Because true love is not always just love at first sight.
Sometimes it is a brave decision.

A decision born from respect, admiration, and the freedom to be oneself.

They have built a relationship with balance:
between the ideal and the real,
between the dreamer and the one who keeps things grounded,
between the one who pushes boundaries and the one who knows how to protect what truly matters.

They share something very precious: they know how to be together… and how to be silent together.
They know how to support one another… and how to respect one another.
They know how to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Because love does not live only in grand moments, but in the small things:
in cooking together,
in laughing for no reason,
in a shared song…
or in falling asleep embracing each other, feeling that in that moment… nothing is missing.

Today we celebrate that.

And we also celebrate something more: the community surrounding them. All of you.
Because when love is true, it does not remain between two people. It expands. It is shared. It multiplies.

And so, before continuing, we want to hear from some of the people who are part of their story.

Now we will give the floor to some very important people in Marco and Nuria’s lives.
People who have walked beside them, who truly know them, and who today wish to offer them a few words.

I ask you to listen with your hearts, because in those words there are memories, affection… and also a part of what you are today as a couple.

TRANSITION TO THE VOWS

And now we arrive at one of the most important moments of this ceremony.

Until now, we have spoken about your story…
but now come the most important words: your own.

Vows are not a formula.
They are a conscious choice.

This is not about promising a perfect life.
It is about promising presence.
About choosing each other even when it is not easy.
About continuing to build that place you both call “home.”

Nuria, Marco, this is your moment.

Whenever you are ready.

VOWS

NURIA:

I begin these promises the way I begin every letter I have written to you:

Here we are, my love, this great day has finally arrived.

Before you, I never thought love could be so calm and serene. And I am very fortunate to have you as my first true love.

Thank you for showing me what it means to love and to be loved.

Thank you for making me a better person every day.

I promise to care for your dreams as if they were my own and to be your greatest admirer.

I promise I will never stop awakening you, both in the light moments and in the difficult ones.

I promise to remind you every day how important you are to me.

I love you.

More than yesterday, less than tomorrow.

MARCO:

Although for forty years I have only done what I have loved, for forty years I have always wondered whether I was doing the right thing. Searching for answers, for certainty, is part of my nature, and I think everyone here — or at least those who know me — knows how much I have wandered from one side to another.

When I am vulnerable and alone with you, and I try to understand the deepest meaning of life, I can only look through your eyes and instantly arrive at the purity of your soul.

It is like seeing, in a single instant, the center of a galaxy or the history of humanity. I had never understood that what I was searching for was Truth, something as certain as the ground beneath my feet. That truth lives within you, and every time I connect with you I understand that it was you I had been searching for my entire life.

That deep gaze, a little frightened. Two great eyes full of light, full of the desire to live, full of the people you love and who are no longer here. But who still watch over you and over us.

I promise to fulfill the great role entrusted to me today by one of my dearest friends and spiritual guides, Cristofol Martinez Perez. In the presence of my witnesses: Fabrizio Miliucci, a friend with whom I have shared the most significant part of my life; Tony Maloy, one of the people with whom I share the emotion of the artistic journey; and my only blood brother, Alessandro Cinelli, with whom I share so much of my life and to whom I owe almost everything.

Before them and before all of you present here, I turn to you, Nuria, my love, and I promise to be the best husband you could deserve and to love you for all eternity. There is no easier promise to keep, because from the moment you entered my heart, I could not have acted any differently in any of the infinite lives I might have been given. Because this is the will of God, and it is to Him that I entrust my soul, so that He may guide my love for you.

More than yesterday, less than tomorrow.

THE MARRIAGE ACT

Thank you for your words.

What we have just heard is the heart of this ceremony.

Today you have shown that love is not possession, but companionship.
It is not demanding, but respecting.
It is not completing the other person, but walking together as two complete individuals.

There is a very ancient idea, present in many traditions, that says:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

And within that phrase there is a very profound truth.

Because love has only one direction.
If someone loves only themselves, all their energy turns inward.
If someone loves only outwardly — their partner, their work, others — they become empty.

The balance lies in loving… and in loving oneself. Loving and being loving toward oneself.

That is where happiness appears.

To be loved is something beautiful, yes.
But that feeds the ego.

To love and to love oneself… feeds the spirit.

So never stop seeking that balance.
Never stop growing.
Never stop choosing love over fear.

Because the opposite of love is not hatred… it is fear.

And when you doubt, when life becomes difficult, remember this:
you can replace the word “God” with “Love”… and the message remains the same.

Love is the most important thing.
Perhaps even the only thing.
The only thing capable of healing true pain.

And you have chosen to build your life from that place.

Today, before all the people who love you,
you have done something very simple… and at the same time immense:
you have chosen each other.

Chosen each other not only today,
but in every stage yet to come.
In good fortune and bad.
In certainty… and uncertainty.
In joy… and in sorrow.

Because love is not something that simply happens.
Love is something that is cared for, something that is learned…
and above all, something that is truly seen.

Looking at another person is easy.
But truly seeing them… is something else.

Seeing them grow.
Seeing them change.
Seeing them even when you do not fully understand them.
Seeing them in their light… and also in their shadows.

And in the act of truly seeing another person,
with patience, with respect…
one eventually comes to see oneself as well.

Because love is not losing yourself in another person,
nor ceasing to be who you are.
Love is finding yourself…
and choosing to walk together.

Never forget this:
to grow together, one must first grow separately.
Care for your own path.
Care for your essence.
Care for your mission.

Because each one of us came into this life with something unique to offer.
Something no one else can do in exactly the same way.

And when two people recognize that…
and accompany one another without limiting each other,
without making themselves smaller,
without ceasing to be who they are…

then love ceases to be only a relationship
and becomes something much greater:

it becomes purpose.

And within that purpose there is something fundamental: creation.

We are part of creation…
and also creators.

Children of God.

And that is not something abstract.
It manifests every day, in the small and ordinary things.

To be creative is not only to paint a picture or write a book.
It is much more.

It is creating a meaningful life.
It is caring for the body as if it were sacred.
It is building a home.
It is having a conversation that transforms.
It is teaching, guiding, raising children.
It is cooking with love.
It is truly listening.
It is giving a thoughtful gift.
It is finding beauty where others do not see it.
It is making courageous decisions.
It is choosing how to live… every single day.

One can be creative in a thousand different ways.

And in a relationship, creativity is what keeps love alive.
Because to love is also to create.

To create safe spaces.
To create memories.
To create new ways of finding one another again.
To create light even in difficult moments.

Never set aside that part of yourselves.
Never stop creating.
Never stop imagining.
Never stop shaping the life you want to live.

Because we all have many facets.
And all of them deserve to be lived.

Speaking of creation, I do not want to forget to congratulate and thank Danielle, Rosa, Silvia, and Mimmo for creating, raising, and accompanying two such extraordinary people, because in a certain way, the love we celebrate today also comes from you.

And there is something else present here today.

Today we are surrounded by many people who love you…
but also, in some way,
by those who could not be here.

People who are part of your story.
Of who you are.
Of what you have lived through.

When someone leaves us, we feel enormous sorrow.
Because it is not only a person who leaves…
a part of ourselves leaves too.
A part of our history.
A part of our life.

And that hurts.

But there is a beautiful question worth asking:
is it possible to feel sad and happy at the same time?

I believe it is.

We can feel absence…
and at the same time feel gratitude.

We can miss someone…
and at the same time smile for everything we shared.

Because there is something that never leaves us:
everything those people left within us.

Their way of loving.
Their way of seeing.
Their way of living.

That remains here.
Within us.
In every gesture.
In every decision.

And that… is passed on.

From story to story.
From life to life.
From generation to generation.

Dear Nuria, dear Marco:

Nothing is lost.
Everything transforms.

And love… does too.

True love does not wear out.
It does not break.
It does not disappear.

It changes form.
Intensity.
Language.

But it remains there.

So when moments of doubt arrive,
when things change — because they will change! —
remember this:

it is not the end,
it is a new form of the same love.

Take care of it.
Choose it.
Return to it… again and again.

And above all, continue helping each other shine.

Because those who help another person shine…
have understood everything.

Those who help another person shine…
have understood everything.

And today, you have understood it.

I would like to recall some words from Miguel de Cervantes in Don Quixote:

“Trust in time, which often finds sweet solutions to many bitter difficulties.”

Someone once said that truth and beauty are twin words. There is no beauty without truth, nor truth without beauty. That is what I see in you. That is the place where you are, and also the place where life is worth continuing to live.

An important moment of this ceremony has arrived. I would like the witnesses to accompany the couple. Please come forward: Nastasia, Nanni, Camilla, Tonny, Beatrice, and Fabrizio.

Now this commitment will take place through a traditional symbol: the rings.

The shape of the rings has neither beginning nor end, just like the love we celebrate today.
They are a reminder of what you have promised here: respect, truth, and the constant choice of one another.

Marco,
do you take Nuria as your wife,
promising to love her, respect her, and stand beside her
in easy times and difficult ones,
for all the days of your life?

Nuria,
do you take Marco as your husband,
promising to love him, respect him, and stand beside him
in easy times and difficult ones,
for all the days of your life?

Now, with the honor of witnessing this moment…
and with the joy of everyone gathered here,

I declare you husband and wife.

You may kiss the bride.

Long live the newlyweds!!!!
